No Arms, No Legs, No Worries!

It's hard to believe that this man, Nick Vujicic, has spent his entire life without arms and legs. I find myself getting frustrating when I'm trying to cut up an apple (I lean on the apple with my elbow while trying to slice with my right hand, but after some very close shaves (no pun intended) where I nearly chopped off my fingers, I've resorted to just biting into the apple. Oh, the sacrifices.) but Nick has learned to type and to shave and to write with the two toes he has on his left foot... He tells about having seriously contemplated suicide at age 8 and describes his mother pointing out a newspaper article featuring another severely disabled man as being the point at which he turned his life around, realizing that he was not the only one facing incredible challenges. Nick was inspired to share motivational stories first with his prayer group and then with students around the world. He tells the middle school and high school girls he talks to that they are each beautiful and asks how any of them, how any girl in this world, could not see how special they were, could call themselves ugly and starve themselves. This video offers a little glimpse into Nick's world, into the world of a man who took his disability as a tool to inspire self-esteem, into the world of a man whose every day is both an incredible struggle and an immense inspiration (especially to those of us stuck at home for the summer with a broken hand...)
